My latest finish for the Abbotsford Hospice Society, Holmberg House, which I’ve titled “Stand in Joy”.
Stand In Joy, March 2016, Acrylic on Canvas, 36″x48″
This piece is a bit different for me, a bit more abstracted than my usual style. The project coordinator asked for a specific theme and style of trees, and use of colours to tie in to the room’s decor where this piece will be placed, incorporating dark reds, blues, greens, and creams, from a special rug that will be in the room. I of course had to add a couple of brighter touches as well so added a muted fuchsia and a lighter glowy peony pink.
It was super fun to not work so planned as I usually do and just play with colour and brushstrokes.
I have one more piece for this set underway, a view of looking up at trees.
Both of these pieces will be delivered to the hospice next week in time for their grand opening ceremony. I’m so honoured to have some of my work included in such a wonderful building and project.
Colour is starting today on the last piece, so exciting! I’ll share more as it happens!
