I just spent a wonderful week in La Quinta with my very bestest friend. We’ve known each other since 1989-90-ish, whoa!
I stayed with her and her hubby who so graciously put up with me for a whole week lol, and we did the touristy thing, checked out Shields Date farm, tried In & Out Burger for the first time (yummm!), went to Palm Springs- holy mid-century love!, Palm Springs Night Market, and the Palm Springs Art Museum where there was an exhibit of Alexander Girard’s life works (Fan girl alert, swoon) the Shag store, Palm Desert and The Living Desert Zoo, did a rock & ladder (yep real metal ladders wedged in the rocks) climbing hike in Box Canyon, College of the Desert market- you can find anything and everything including piles and piles of licorice of all flavours and colours, I kid you not, and dried dates and fruit of course, and the highlight, other than spending not nearly enough time together, was going to Salvation Mountain and East Jesus.
Way out in the desert, this incredible place and a community of “weirdos” as the one resident we met called himself. Wow. It made an impression on both of us.
I won’t bore you with trip photos, but if you’re interested you can see a few on my Instagram here.
Anyways, I hadn’t been anywhere in years, we are such homebodies, so it was really awesome to experience so many different things and be inspired! I always forget how fun it is to get outside my element and see new stuff. Note to self: do more of that!
Back to real life, I’ve been busy working on client work and some new designs for Spoonflower, (and have a little Easter project coming up with them in the next couple weeks that I’ll share about soon!).
In the meantime, some new fabric designs are now up, Cheetah Night:
and Garden Friends:
More projects underway that I’ll share about when I can and thank you for supporting me and my work!
