It’s getting closer! My first solo show at the Mission Arts Council Rock Family Gallery!
I have more finished pieces to share, first up, a pretty b & b in Clayburn.
That House in Clayburn, 30″x40″, acrylic on canvas
We had gone over to Clayburn to the Clayburn store (british candy!) and I spotted this house, which is actually a b&b, and snapped a photo of it to paint. It just has so much love pouring out of it doesn’t it? The yard and garden are so pretty and beautifully kept, it was a must-paint! I loved the colours and the shadows of the mid-day sun, with colours reflecting and glowing. SO much fun to paint.
Best Friend, 16″x20″, acrylic on canvas
As we walked by the b&b, I spotted this wee friend peeking out from under a tree. I had to paint it. It brings back memories of riding my bike to the beach and to the library, ah the freedom and fun!
Monet’s House, 30″x40″, acrylic on canvas
We visited Monet’s home and gardens in Giverny when we went to Paris several years ago. What a dreamy and inspiring place! You can just imagine him wandering through his gardens, or sitting by his lily ponds, painting until the light faded each day. Even though he was partly blind, he continued to paint, his love of capturing light never wavering.
Nanny’s House, 24”x30”, acrylic on canvas
To me, this house is the original house of love. My late gran lived there for pretty much her entire life, until the day she sadly passed away. She was the one person who really understood me and cared, supported, and encouraged me and my artwork. I just had to paint her house in her honour. It no longer is there, bought up for the land, the same fate many old and original homes in Vancouver have suffered. Luckily my uncle had a photo of it that he shared with me to paint from. I like to think she’d be proud of me and what I’ve achieved so far!
All of these pieces, with exception of Nanny’s House, will be for sale at my show in September. I have a couple more to complete, including this one, my friend Cathy’s barn and pretty garden.
Here is the information if you’re interested in attending, hope to see you there!
With much love and gratitude as always,
