This week’s design challenge at Spoonflower is the theme of Bohemian Paradise. I thought about it for a while, since you can do pretty much anything under that theme, it’s pretty wide open! But I kept coming back to birds and flowers. And jungle-y vines, peacocks, and rainforest-y kinds of things so that’s where I went with it.
Of course I loaded up on details, dots, and colour, colour, colour!
It was a challenge as I worked in Procreate, and I had to build the design in several pieces to make a repeat. It’s not like creating a regular illustration. But I do love a good challenge so I’m thinking that more fabric designs in this style will be coming up on deck very soon.
Now that this version is done, I’m taking it back a few steps to a regular illustration, for things like puzzles, wall art, etc. etc., removing the repeat elements and filling it back up with flowery, dotty goodness. Then off to my agent it goes!
We have a long weekend here for Family Day, so I’m spending the day with my little family, and drawing, drawing, drawing!
With much love and gratitude as always!
