Some new art I just sent in to my agent! @cruisecreative (No swears, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I must get back to my roots again!)

Trying to stay focussed on making new art & not the news, which is upsetting and frustrating and ugh. American friends I am so sorry for what’s incoming to power in a short time. 🙁

I’ve been spending more time in the studio, and working on a 12 week year plan for a personal project I have been dying to get out in the world but keep putting off.
Have you heard of the 12 week year, it seems a lot more realistic to me as I tend to put off big projects- oh maybe next month, maybe the month after, then it never gets done. So this forces you do a year’s worth of work in 12 weeks and take action on a couple of projects, whatever they are, and get them donezo once and for all.

So I’ll share sneak peeks of that plus more new art as I get it done- I imagine I’ll be producing lots more as I hide in the safety of my happy studio away from the tv & news & Facebook and doomscrolling.

A little bit into this year already & it seems like I’ve need to put this one into use a few times already.
Maybe it’s time to drop alllllll the old stuff, people, things that aren’t good for me anymore. Some may not have ever been, but my tolerance of shitty stuff & treatment has gotten less lately.
Walk away from pieces and parts left on the floor and go go go.
I feel like it’s time for step on, over, through, and just get on with it, without dragging all the old junk along with me.
Not that it wasn’t a part of me or my life, but I feel like I’m ready to let it go with love.
Maybe forgive, maybe or maybe not forget, maybe just leave it where it is without further thought, and know I learned what I needed to learn, thank it for doing what it did for me good or bad, and that’s all I need from that now.

I’m ready for like minded tribes folks who clap and celebrate each other, not rip or tear down. For happy, joy, thriving, not being dragged down or criticized, left out or forgotten. No time for that & importantly I’m not afraid to say so anymore.

With all the pre-New year posts online, lists of achievements & goals met or exceeded, & all of the amazing things- which is great btw, celebrate that shit!- I thought I’d go the opposite route, take the pressure to perform off, & say hey!

I had all these awesome plans & goals & didn’t really do ANY of them!
I didn’t start any of those projects I intended to do!
I wrote & rewrote them on my to-do list & ignored them!
I had lots of ideas but didn’t execute them!

And you know what? That is a million times ok!

What did I do this past year?
I DID do lots of art & am super grateful for the contracts I’ve gotten & cool projects I’ve been honoured to work on.
It’s always such a thrill & it never gets old. Lots more of that please!

But for me it’s been a year of more personal growth.
I stood up for myself, a lot. & spoke up.
I refused to take bread crumbs & be a second choice.
I set some boundaries.
I let go of lots of shit. & shitty people.
& reconnected with other people.
I got fed up with other stuff & dropped it. Off you fuck.

I’m feeling an energy to let old stories go-I am done!-& write new ones.
To reimagine things & take my power back.
Drop what was dumped on me by others & keep exploring who I really am without all that shit.

There’s time.
Things will happen when they’re ready.
I’m supposed to be right where I am, & whatever I am doing, or not doing, right now is perfect.

Goals & dreams are great & inspiring to take action, rahrahrah let’s do this!
But if they change, or are delayed or don’t happen, that’s ok too.
As long as you’re taking steps forward however small or invisible they may seem, & you might not even know where you’re going (raises hand!) you’re moving in the right-for-you direction.
And eventually all the things add up & wherever you end up with it all, is perfect for you at that moment.

I’ll be setting more goals for 2025 & revisiting what I didn’t get done in 2024 to see if it still aligns, & pick & choose what to work on. Or don’t work on.
& that’s where I’m at with it so far.

I’m in the new issue of @uppercasemag #64, (page 95) a section about how art transformed you. I’ll always be thankful I have art in my life, it saved me from the dark path I could have followed statistically, and gotten me away from the cruelty and evilness others in the family have embodied. It helps me express what’s hard to put into words, and to be the best human I can be. It’s also very healing. I am grateful I chose art as a career, it’s definitely not easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. ✨💜
